Who loves mythology? I do so much!!! I am studying it at uni and I just can't get enough. I have studied ancient history since high school but I would have to say that I love mythology the most. It is just so interesting and entertaining. I kind of wish I could go back in time just so that I can hear a story teller recite the epic poems of Homer, or the trials of Heracles. And maybe find out the reasoning behind each myth without the bias of the modern perspective. It would be so fascinating. Then again, I could just be crazy...

I love mythology!! I've got tons of books on the subject. Have you ever seen the Dragonology books? The new one is Monsterology, but there's also a Mythology one. They are the coolest books ever!! I like the story of Beowulf a lot. I've seen tons of movies based on that poem. Mythology is great.

My sister has Dragonology, but I have Egyptology, Wizardology and Piratology. Next I will be tracking down Monsterology, Mythology and Vampirology.
I have some really old mythology books. I have Homer's Iliad and Odyssey. The editions I have are from the 1830's!!!

I also love Mythology, I guess it goes hand in hand with my love of Role Playing Games and of course all things Fantasy/Medieval.
I've read several books on various mythological stories and events, and have used many of its creatures and characters in various role playing games as well.
on a side note. I also have the "Dragonology" book, and while I thought it was an interesting book, It is often inaccurate and it is very limited and leaves out so much more that dragons are.
yes I am a Dragon Fanatic also, and have read many books on dragons as well as many movies and anything else even remotely related to the topic.
I'm also a huge fan of Vampires as well.
So I never bothered to waste my money or time on any of the other "ology" books as I know they are probably just as limited and inaccurate as the original one was.

I love them, even though they aren't the most accurate books. They are good for a nice gentle read when I can't be bothered to read properly. If that makes sense. My cousin loves Xena, and so do I (mostly to point out the stupidity and inaccuracy). That could be why I love mythology now. Heracles is really interesting. Vampires are really fascinating. I love Buffy and Angel (despite inaccuracy).

I know the books aren't the most accurate books ever, but I just love how they have all the fold outs and I just think they are fun. I loved the shows Hercules and Xena(well until Xena got all.....)I would always point out all the inaccuracies of the show, but it was still fun. I love fantasy and medieval things. (My wedding was done at the Renaissance festival and it was the coolest thing ever!! My priest was even dressed like a pirate.)
Vampires are prolly my favorite of all. I like Dragons and Pirates, but Vampires...they're special.

That sounds like a very interesting wedding! When I get married, I would love to have a nice handfasting (wiccan wedding tradition) but my boyfriend is not Wiccan, so we will just be using a celebrant, not a priest or anything as neither of us are Catholic.
My cousin is really getting into mythology. She watches Xena and then goes and researches the gods and goddesses that were in it. She wants me to teach her some more too, which is quite exciting because she usually hates it when I go on about mythology.

That's cool. My ceremony was a mix of Christian and (as Father Dave says...I don't want to exactly say Pagan...) Renaissance. I wore a red dress. There was a sword ceremony then we did the exchanging of rings, and then were tied (at the wrist) together all day. My hubby got knighted by the king, we got to watch the joust and coolest of all...we got to ride an elephant in the parade! I still like talking about it cause it was just last month! I had a few friends who hated to listen to me prattle on about mythology... at least my mom likes it. We could go on for hours... We also wrote this little story and created our own gods and goddesses. It was really cool. I always wondered what other people would make. So what God or Goddess would you create? (Mine is Hiasobe - the God of Interior Design....yea I know...and he dresses like a girl! My mom's is Viperia - Goddess of Snakes.)

Your wedding sounds amazing! Yeah, in a hand fasting you get tied together at the wrist, or the hand, which ever is prefered all day. That would have been so wonderful. CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Hmmm... my own diety, huh? I will have to think about that. I have before of course but I cannot remember where I wrote it down... I am so forgetfull sometimes. Your dieties sound cool!!!
