I was wondering if there were any other Rubik's Cube fans here?
I've been a Rubik's cube enthusiast since it first came out in 1980, although I didn't solve it for the first time till 1981.
It didn't take long after that till I started "Speedcubing" which is the art of solving the cube as fast as possible. I even entered several Rubik's Cube competitions, around the state of Indiana and even made it to the final rounds of the state competition. Unfortunately I didn't make it to the national level.
My fastest time was 49.30 seconds. Although now my average speed is just over 2 minutes. after 25 years my hand eye coordination has gotten worse. LOL.
But I still love messing with my Rubik's Cubes, and my daughters are even getting interested in playing with them. Of course I'm not near fast enough to compete anymore, but it is still fun to watch people's expressions when I scramble and then solve the cube right in front of their eyes, heh heh.
I also have other Rubik's Puzzles like "Rubik's Snake", "Rubik's Revenge" (4x4x4), "Rubik's Pocket Cube" (2x2x2), as well as many other non rubik puzzles such as "Alexandars Star", the "Impossiball", and all the various odd shapped cube themed puzzles. As you can tell I'm a Puzzle fanatic all around, but the Rubik's Cube is still my ultimate favorite.
And now I am just curious if there are any other Cube enthusiasts or Speedcubists here? I would like to hear your stories, and even if you compete now, I hear the competitions have expanded much more than just speedcubing now.
