This is kind of a warning for those of you who also run forums, I just today noticed a new breed of spam bot. It was very subtle and I didnt even catch it right away, it joined almost a month ago.
It is very cleaver at disguising itself as a normal person.
It's name was ddddyyyy and 3 days after it joined it posted a short message on a random thread with the message "I agree with Meltd0wn" which didnt really make sense at the time but not everyone makes sense. lol
But now almost a month latter it posts almost the exact message on another random thread only this time the thread is months old it again said "I agree with deeementia" The message again does not make sense so then I noticed what appears to be the signature area which is several text spam links. When I go to check the account though I see there is no signature.
This bot randomly posts the message "I agree with [whoever started the thread]" and then spaces down several lines and posts a line of simple text links to spam sites to appear to be a signature.
I used to kick out nicks that were just random letters that made no sense but I was often yelled at for this practice. But I think I may start doing this again.
