Yes you read that correct. according to the Official Japanese website, Gracie (known there as Grace) is male. Here is their description. and here is the image they use Now THAT looks like a Fashion designer. heh

Gracie is female in the NA and EU version, but male in the JP version. I think...

He was called "she" in the two versions because of misguided "moral" standards that those in charge feel they need to force upon others. Personally I see no problem with sticking to how the characters were original created. After all we aren't in the dark ages of society anymore. lol
