I've been playing ACWW since it came out. And I still haven't been able to catch the darned bees in the trees.
I became a pro at it in the GameCube version. I could catch all 5 bees every day.
But I still can't in ACWW. I just can't get the net out fast enough since the bees don't stop when you bring up your inventory.
I was wondering if those of you who have caught the bees have any tips for me? I'd really like to catch a bee to complete my bug list before ACCF comes out.
Any help is appreciated.

;D Hi! This is what worked for me. Once I caught a bee for the Museum I haven't bothered to catch any more. I get stung all the time shaking trees for bells, but what the heck? It don't hurt! This is from the Tips Board at the 'old' site. From: Mêl†d0wn (Original Message) Sent: 6/10/2006 3:10 PM Well I finally caugt a Bee today. Actually I caught 2 bees today. and the strange thing is I "found" 4 bees nests. so yes I did get stung twice today as well. Here are my tips: First, Dont fear getting stung. it doesnt seriously effect anything, and if you are wearing glasses or anything that covers the face, your neighbors dont even notice, so they dont make any comments about it either. Second, Dont RUN, unlike the regular AC game, running gives you no advantage, because nomatter what, when you open your inventory, your character is going to stop, and the bees will start swarming around your head. Stand in front of or beside the trees when shaking them. When you equip your character with the net, they will automatically turn and face you. IF you are behind the tree, they are effectivly facing the tree, and the tree can get in the way of swinging the net. I keep my net on the top row of my pockets, although it doesnt really matter where, because as long as your inventory screen is open, the bees will just swarm around your characters head on the top screen. Once you have your net in hand, get your finger ready to hit the A button quickly. Now press the B button to exit the inventory screen, and then as soon as your character appears on the bottom screen, start hitting the A button quickly. What I do, although im still not sure if it was just luck or not yet, but I watch the swarm as it flies around my characters head, and then just as it starts to fly around to the back of his head, I press B to close my inventory. Then quickly hit A to swing the net. Both times I used this method, I caught the bees before they had a chance to sting me. the other 2 times when I got stung, I didnt look at the top screen to see where the swarm was. Keep trying and you'll get that bee!

Thanks!!! I'm going to have to try again. I gave up trying for a while, because I got so frustrated.
I also still have to catch the Scorpion and the dreaded Banded Dragonfly before my bug list is complete. I guess I'm about done with Scorpion time. If I haven't gotten them all by the time ACCF comes out, I'll time travel to try to complete my bugs.
I'll let you know how it goes.

Oh my gosh!! I'm so excited!!! ;D
After all this time I've FINALLY caught a bee from the trees!!! Thanks so much for posting that info. I was doing most of what was said, except shaking the tree from the side. I think that must've been what helped, because I would usually shake from behind. That's how I do it in the GC version.
I was able to catch the first bee that dropped out last night!!! I can't believe it still.
In fact, I caught the 2nd one too!!! I got stung the next 2 times, but I don't care. I donated my bee to the museum, and all is well!!! Yay!!!
Thanks again!!! ;D

I am so totally happy for you! The bee was one of the most frustrating bugs for me. The worst was the mole cricket though. I must have missed it a million times before I finally got it. Melt has the best hints and tips on the web, hands down. The scorpion is still out in my town at around 10:00 p.m. I've caught a bunch but last night I swung and missed. I woke up in front of my house...lol. Yahoo! ;D

He always fell in the water or something before I could get him. I'll have to be sure to play around 10:00 to get that Scorpion. He doesn't freak me out near as much as the Tarantula. I'm deathly afraid of spiders, and I'm embarrassed to admit the one in the game gives me the heebie geebies! My Scorpions always run in the water. Darn things...

I have had absolutely no trouble with either scorpion or tarantula, I've caught so many I've lost count. My troublesome ones are (don't laugh) the dung beetle and the giant beetle. I cannot find either of them. Winter after winter, summer after summer... Any suggestions?

The Giant Beetle is on trees at night. You may have passed up many of them because they look like a stag beetle on the tree. That's what happened to me. I quit going for (what I thought was ) stag beetles and one night I caught one just for the heck of it and it was the GIANT beetle! Don't pass up any bugs on the trees at night. The dung beetle will be pushing a snowball in your town when there is snow on the ground. When you find a snowball, roll it a short distance. Make sure to roll it away from water and get it out in the open. Walk away and then keep checking to see if the snowball is moving...that's the dung beetle pushing it. Sneak up on him and SWOOP!! You got 'im! Hope this helps!

So the giant beetle is on regular trees? One of my friends kept telling me they were only on coconut trees.

I know some of the big beetles are only on coconut trees...but I honestly don't remember which ones. I'll see if I have it written down somewhere.

I apologize for the confusion. It was the Rainbow Stag I caught on a tree, passing up many thinking they were Jewel Beetles. The Giant Beetle is on coconut palms at night and is very rare. Here's a GREAT guide to check out! groups.msn.com/AnimalCrossingTheFansClub/acwwbugs.msnw

I took two years to catch one and right after I caught that one I caught two more! I'm so happy I caught that little bugger. Now I just have to find me a giant beetle.
