History of Animal Crossing The Fans Club
Pre history. I have been hanging out in chat rooms and message board groups for years and while a few were enjoyable, most were often filled with trouble makers and cliques that would flame and torment anyone new who joined. Even in the early Animal Crossing web sites I was surprised to see and receive this kind of reception. So I turned my back on the 2 "big" Animal Crossing sites and a few of us decided to branch out on our own and make sites where people would be friendly to all who joined.
Which brings us to MSN groups. The date October 9th, 2002. the original creation day of our happy little group.
At that time there were 2 of us running a then small little group called "Animal Crossing The Fan Club". the site at that time consisted of 5 pages of information and one forum.
Within 5 months the group had grown to become the number one Nintendo group on MSN groups, but unfortunately due to uncontrollable circumstances the group had to be moved to a new URL on MSN groups so on March 4th, 2003 "Animal Crossing The Fans Club" was created and everyone made the move to our new location. (notice the slight adjustment to the name) Along with the new location the new 'Safety' rules and policies were put in place to make our group a safe haven for all members of the family. this was also the time we really started getting several parents and adults joining us as well as the usually teens and kids trully making us a Family group. I was very serious and strict with the rules and many told me that would be the death of the site, and even a few members left because of this, but instead of getting slower, activity jumped. I have had several parents and kids both tell me that they felt safe and enjoyed our group.
Within a couple more months I went around to the top internet safety groups and submitted our group for evaluation to be included in their lists of "Approved" family safe sites to surf, and was happy to have been accepted by all of them.
By the middle of 2004 more specifically July 13th it was time for a makeover. all pages and logos were completely redesigned and "Animal Crossing The Fans Club 2.0" was revealed. and even with the steady slow down of MSN activity over all, our group remained highly active.
On Aug 30th, 2005 we decided to expand and opened our Sister group on MySpace and although it has only reached 382 members it has still be a successful venture.
Meanwhile our MSN group steadily grew in both size and population over the years till we maxed out MSN's page limit of 1000 different pages and an accumulated population of 2279 members. So This forum was created in an effort to not only allow us to grow bigger than MSN could handle, but also to give staff better control and members more options. and it was a good thing I had started the new location as MSN decided not long after that they were closing down groups for good and all groups would be deleted.
So here we are in our new home "Version 4.0 of Animal Crossing The Fans Club"
