-NEWS- Warner Music wants more money from music Videogames.
Warner Music Group Corp, the world's third-largest music company, said on Thursday that video game makers will need to pay more to license their songs for music-based video games like "Guitar Hero" and "Rock Band."
Warner Music Chief Executive Edgar Bronfman drew comparisons between MTV's launch 25 years ago or Apple Inc's iPod launch five years ago, and today's video game companies like Activision Blizzard Inc and Harmonix, a unit of Viacom Inc.
"The amount being paid to the music industry, even though their games are entirely dependent on the content we own and control, is far too small"

I find it interesting how Bronfman says "their games are entirely dependent on the content we own and control" even though they themselves pay the actual artist who create the music very little in comparison to how much they make. And do you think the artists will see any raise in income when the video game companies end up having to pay more? NOPE all the extra money will go straight into the top executives of Warner Music Group.
Personally I would love to see the video game companies turn direction. Start including more independents, give new unsighend bands a chance to be heard and discovered. and if any major bands want in the games they will have to take that up with their management companies for trying to over charge for everything.
Unfortunately though the way most humans are, they will take the stupid lazy approach and just throw more money to the big corporation and then turn around and raise the cost of the games to us consumers, which of course most being equally as stupid will happily pay even though they cant afford it. (notice I said most. I am not above boycotting a company or game and not giving my money to them even if it is something I really enjoyed.)
