Ok, so after playing for over 7 hours yesterday, here are my thoughts. I think IGN was a bit harsh with their review. True, there isn't a whole lot of new stuff. But, that's ok with me. I loved the first 2 games, and this one seems to take most of the best stuff of both of those and combines it. So that makes me happy! There are enough new bugs, fish, furniture items, clothes, etc. to satisfy me. If they would've changed a lot, then I would've been irritated, probably.
I'm very happy with it so far. I wish I could take a week's vacation to play it constantly!
The only thing I'm disappointed in is having the use the Wiimote and the Nunchuk. I would've liked to be able to play with the classic controller. But it will just take some getting used it. I'm sure I'll be fine after a bit.
I love that Franklin is back at Thanksgiving, and Jingle is back at Christmas, and Jack is back at Halloween. I missed those guys in the DS version. And Wisp the ghost is back! I missed him too. The graphics are a little better than before, but about the same as the GameCube version. But it's still a very bright and cheery game to look at.
I'm a little surprised that there are load times when you enter and exit houses and buildings. It's not a lot, but still surprising. I would've thought the Wii could've handled it without load times. But what do I know about technology? Not much.
I love it, love it, love it.
And the best part...you can use USB keyboards to chat with each other rather than having to point and click to the keyboard on the screen with the Wiimote. That will be awesome.
I don't plan on getting the Wii Speak for a while. Don't know that I want people hearing me, or my husband cussing at his games in the background. It would've been better with a headset than just a microphone that hears everything in the room.
Guess that's it for now.
I definitely suggest you get the Guide to go along with it if you are a "collector" like me and want to try to get everything you can in the game. So far it seems to be a good guide. And mine came with a poster!! Yippee!! Since stupid Kyle at GameStop TOLD me he'd save their ACCF poster for me, but threw it away instead. Punk.
More later...I actually have to work now. Crap....

So far, I am having a hard time using both the nunchuck and the Wiiote together - everytime I point at the screen, the menu pops up. I have noticed that the balloons fly over at the xx:x7 time. I also noticed that if I'm fishing at the edge/top of the waterfall, sometimes the fish just dissapear. Anyone else notice anything strange? Hey, how can you get into Redd's? Anyone been there yet??

The way I understand it is that you have to keep talking to your neighbors until one mentions an invitation to Redd's. Then I think they'll send it to you in the mail, and you have to take it with you to Redd's. I think. I haven't had a neighbor talk to me about it yet, but a friend did. She's going to see if she gets an invitation tomorrow. The balloons are like the ones from the GameCube version and fly all over town very slowly. But you need a slingshot to shoot them, and Nook hasn't had one yet. I had a balloon today, but they don't seem to land in trees like they did in original AC. In the Guide it indicates that the Nintendo Series of furniture is found in the balloons. I've found to not point at the screen at all, unless I want to select something. I use the stick on the Nunchuk to move, and I keep the Wiimote pointed away from the TV or down at the floor. Then I can use my "A" button as my action button on the Wiimote without causing something weird to happen. I've fished off the cliff above the waterfall a couple times, and haven't had fish disappear, that I recall. Now that I'm getting used to using the controllers, I'm really liking the game.

I got my invite the day after the neighbor mentioned it. Redd requires 3000 bells to join.

Thanks for the advice, it works great!

Its a really great game so far.
It combines the greatest features of Wild World and the GCN version.
I have Wifi, so anyone else who does should add me to their roster.
I'm buying a new SD card for my Wii (My sister put my old one in our camera and lost the camera -_-") so hopefully i'll get some screenshots up here for you guys (:

It's really disappointing that you can't have more than one town without having 2 Wiis. Very big mistake on Nintendo's part, I think. I feel it's a slap in the face to their loyal fanbase. Everyone loves to have more than one town. And who can afford to get another Wii just for that! I don't understand why they couldn't have made it so you could save one town on a card or something. I'm not technically savvy, but my husband says it wouldn't have been hard for them to do it.
It's especially bad if you have more than one family member that wants to have a town, and only one Wii. They have to share a town. I'd hate that!

My daughters and I have had seperate Towns on the Gamecube and on the DS, so the fact that we cannot have seperate towns on the Wii just means I dont have to bother saving the 50 bucks to spend on the game. heh heh
